Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information may be collected when you use Union County Inmate Population, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. By using this site, you accept the practices described here.

Information You Submit

Search Terms

When you type a name, location, or similar search detail into a search box supplied by a third-party provider, that query is sent to the provider that operates the tool. Union County Inmate Population does not store those search terms on its own server.

Messages

If you email us or send a message, we use the information you provide to read the request and respond. We do not share those messages outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement applies, including a court order, subpoena, or other lawful process under South Carolina or federal law.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, this site may receive basic technical information when a page loads.

  • Your IP address.
  • Your browser name and version.
  • Your device type and operating system.
  • The pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
  • The referring website, when one is available.
  • Date and time stamps for site activity.

Cookies

Cookies may be used to understand site traffic, remember technical preferences, and measure how visitors move through the pages. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but some site features or partner tools may work differently when cookies are disabled.

How Information Is Used

  • To keep the site available, readable, and responsive.
  • To send search requests to the correct third-party search partner.
  • To understand which Union County jail, court, and facility pages visitors use most.
  • To identify broken links, errors, and technical problems.
  • To display advertising that may be related to visitor interests.

Outside Websites

This site links to the Union County inmate portal, Sheriff's Office pages, SCDC, VINELink, court portals, federal locators, and third-party search tools. Once you leave this site, the destination site's privacy policy and data practices control.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and serve interest-based ads. That tracking is handled by those partners, not by Union County Inmate Population.

Who May Receive Information

We do not sell personal information. Information may be received by the following categories of recipients when needed to operate the site or comply with the law.

  • Search partners that process search-tool queries.
  • Analytics providers that help measure site performance.
  • Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
  • Law-enforcement agencies, courts, or government bodies when required by a valid legal order or lawful demand. Public-records obligations under South Carolina FOIA, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, apply to public bodies, but lawful process may still require a private site to preserve or disclose specific information.

Security

We use reasonable security practices for a small public website. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed breach-proof, so we cannot promise that information transmitted online will always remain secure.

Visitors Under 18

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.

Your Choices

  • You may request a copy of personal information we hold about you.
  • You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
  • You may request deletion of personal information when deletion is legally and technically available.
  • You may object to or opt out of certain processing where applicable.

Policy Changes

This privacy notice may be revised from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with the new effective version reflected by the posted content.
